Sukanto Tanoto Main Bisnis Gas di Kanada, Habiskan Dana US$ 500 Juta

JAKARTA, Investor.id – Konglomerat nasional Sukanto Tanoto berencana mengucurkan dana US$ 500 juta untuk menggarap proyek LNG di Kanada. Proyek itu dikerjakan Woodfibre, perusahaan yang disokong Pacific Energy Corp milik Sukanto.

Berdasarkan laporan Bloomberg, Rabu (23/3/2022), Woodfibre memang belum mengeluarkan pernyataan resmi terkait proyek ini. Namun, Presiden Woodfibre Christine Kennedy sudah membeberkan rencana ini ke pejabat pemerintahan Squamish, British Columbia, Kanada. Total investasi proyek ini mencapai US$ 1,6 miliar.

“Prakonstruksi proyek ini akan dimulai tahun ini dan ditargetkan rampung pada 2027,” ujar Kennedy dalam materi presentasi yang diperoleh Bloomberg.

Woodfibre berniat mengikuti langkah Shell yang menggarap proyek LNG senilai US$ 40 miliar di Kitimat, British Columbia, yang sudah selesai 60%. Produksi LNG fasilitas ini akan dimulai pada 2025.

Woodfibre sudah mengantongi izin untuk mengekspor LNG per tahun. Ekspor ini akan mengerek pendapatan Woodfibre. Target pasar ekspor LNG Woodfibre adalah Eropa, yang tengah mencari pasokan alternatif LNG di luar Rusia. Negara-negara Eropa memang berencana mengurangi ketergantungan energi ke Rusia, setelah negara itu menyerang Ukraina.

Sukanto Tanoto adalah pendiri dan Komisaris Utama RGE Group. Saat ini, kelompok usaha RGE menggarap bisnis pulp dan kertas (April dan Asia Symbol), minyak kelapa sawit (Asian Agri dan Apical), serat rayon (Sateri dan Asia Pacific Rayon), selulosa khusus (Bracell), serta pengembangan sumber daya energi (Pacific Oil& Gas), dengan wilayah operasi di Indonesia, Tiongkok, Brasil, Spanyol, dan kantor-kantor pemasaran di banyak negara di seluruh dunia.

Total aset RGE Group saat ini sekitar US$ 20 miliar. Adapun kekayaan bersih Sukanto Tanoto, berdasarkan data Forbes, mencapai US$ 2,1 miliar.
